Souper Bowl

ln celebration of the Super Bowl we will have “Souper Bowl”, a collection of food and nonperishable food items. Just vote for your favorite team and let’s see if we can predict the winner of the big game. Donations will be taken through the Sunday of the Super Bowl, February 4. Place your items in the container for your favorite team and cheer them on.

The first half of the year has flown by and we have been busy working and having fun together. Plans are underway for the annual Winter Dinner and Talent Show. This is one of our biggest fundraisers as we begin the windup for the mission trip. It is always a great evening of good food and fun entertainment. We hope that you will all consider buying a ticket, and if you are not asked please call Sheryl Langdon and we will make sure that you get one. The dinner is being planned for March 18 at 5:30 pm. Cost is $15 for adult tickets and $6 for a child’s ticket. The menu will once again include: Windsor loins, baked potato, corn, dinner roll, fruit cup, cheesecake and a fun filled entertainment show. Why mess with perfection?
Preliminary plans are also beginning for mission trip. No dates or definite destinations have been set. If you have interest in attending as a sponsor please call Sheryl. It looks like we may be heading south – more to come as plans are made.

For this year's Mission Trip our Youth group headed to Texas. May 21-26th. More information below.

The New Zion Youth Group traveled for a mission trip to Deweyville Texas May 21 through May 26th. They were hosted by the First Baptist Church in Deweyville Texas.
Twelve members and five sponsors made the long journey. Upon their arrival they completed projects in the church and community. Projects included painting, cleanup from last year’s hurricane and flooding, yard work, and putting up trim work in homes and church properties. The group was also able to move a woman back into her home after almost a year of being displaced from her home waiting for renovations to be completed.
According to church officials, this church is in one of the poorest counties in Texas. They have a great mission for the poor and underprivileged, feeding them, providing a place for them to be, buying shoes and school supplies. On Wednesday night the church hosted its weekly community dinner, the members of New Zion’s Youth Group were able to meet members of the community and share stories and experiences. They were able to meet and participate in activities with the youth of the church and community.
Attending the 2018 mission trip were Derek Gurnsey, Abigail Langdon, Cassie Brabec, Sawyer Kappel, Bailey Lemburg, Lane Kudera, Mitchel Beeson, Melissa Bunner, Hailey Kudera, Colyn Dlouhy, Ella Kappel, Drew Beeson, Pastor Steve Niles, Rowe Langdon, Sharon Cerv, Abbey Hamernik and Maddie Cerv.
Thank you to all of the parents and members of New Zion for supporting the trip, and giving the members an opportunity to share and grow in faith. A big thank you to the members and staff of the Deweyville First Baptist Church for helping make all of the arrangements and for their hospitality. .
